Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the operator and managing body of Bahrain International Airport (BIA), issued a new public tender for security fencing in bid to improve its landside and airside boundary.
Dubbed Control Post No. 3 (CP3), the project will see the upgrading of the existing airport perimeter fence. The improvements will include additional CCTV and lighting, which will be added to the new fence, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.
The enhancements are necessary to meet the security requirements of the $1.1-billion Airport Modernization Program (AMP) currently underway at the airport, it stated.
This project is being carried out over two stages in co-ordination with Airport Police Directorate at BIA, with the first stage being the demolition of old and unsafe buildings and existing fences, which was successfully completed in March last year.
The second stage, the subject of this tender, will help elevate the levels of security at several locations, making the entire airport safer. The project will be completed within six months.
