On Thursday, March 8th, 2018, General Jean-Pierre Bosser, Chief-of-Staff of the French Army, visited the RENAULT TRUCKS Defense (RTD) industrial plant in Fourchambault (near Nevers, France).

RENAULT TRUCKS Defense, major partner for the French Defense and century-old land Defense manufacturer, which has just launched a new strategy and reorganized its governance, welcomed General Bosser in its industrial plant in Fourchambault.

After a general presentation of RTD and the Fourchambault plant by President Emmanuel Levacher, Fabrice Verdeaux, Director of the plant and his team presented General Bosser with the key aspects of the plant’s activities.

Since its acquisition eleven years ago, the plant has been experiencing an activity boost, and is currently employing 300 people, recruited in the Nevers region. Its activity, which was focused on Repair and Overhaul of the Armée de Terre’s VABs (Armored Forward Vehicle), extended to Private Industrial Repairs for trucks. The Maintenance in Operational Conditions is a major activity which accounts for 30% of the Group’s revenue.

After a full day of presentations focused on Maintenance in Operational Condition and innovation, General Bosser expressed his full satisfaction. To the operators on site, he declared: “Good relationships between Land Forces and the industry is key to our soldiers’ effectiveness and protection while deployed”.

The plant also specialized in manufacturing armored hulls for land platforms, and has been selected to become the logistics center for all RTD lines, but also for all Scorpion vehicles, starting in 2018.

RTD, in a partnership with the French government and the Nevers Community of Communes, has invested 10 million Euros over three years in this 18,000 m² site, which will be hosting more than 30,000 references on its 15 km of shelves and 13,000 m² of storages.
