Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics will showcase its ONESuit® line of chemical- and biological-protective suits alongside its Coretech® barrier membrane technology platform at Intersec (Dubai, 15-17 January 2012).

The ONESuit range of chemical-protective personal protective equipment (PPE) is engineered to meet the needs of hazmat professionals seeking the highest levels of protection combined with exceptional comfort and enhanced mobility for performing in uncertain hazardous situations.

Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics' patent pending Coretech technology platform enables the engineering of chemical and biological protective composites intended for use in a range of product applications, and is capable of providing the highest level of chemical protection while maintaining affordability and weight specifications.

The ONESuit range of PPE includes the ONESuit Flash Level A hazmat suit and the ONESuit Shield Level B CBRN Splash Suit, both of which have been well received with fire and rescue, chemical, military and industrial organizations worldwide.

ONESuit Flash is certified to NFPA 1991 and its options for liquefied gas and flash fire protection - all in a unique, single skin construction. Due to its lightweight design and flexibility, ONESuit Flash offers maximum comfort for the emergency responder along with high performance chemical protection.

In addition, Saint–Gobain also offers the ONESuit Gard and ONESuit Pro Level A suits, with the latter also certified to the European standard EN-943-2. As well as meeting the rigorous American standards for protection against the most dangerous chemical, biological, and warfare agents, these suits are supplied with Saint-Gobain’s unique ONEGlove Hazmat, which incorporates cut and puncture resistance with chemical protection as a single-piece glove.

The ONESuit Shield is certified to NFPA 1994 Class 2 and NFPA 1992 and has gained high market acceptance in a very short time due to its unique combination of affordability, durability, and comfort.

“Hazmat and emergency response teams must ensure that they are fully prepared at all times for dealing with potentially hazardous situations,” said Ian Hutcheson, Market Manager, Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics. “As the complexities of chemical threats and incidents continue to increase, the protective capabilities of hazmat suits need to be constantly developed to align with the industry’s toughest requirements while ensuring maximum user comfort and mobility.”

Saint-Gobain will also show how Coretech technology can be applied to other chemical and biological protective equipment. Applications include the Coretech ShelterGuard, a lightweight fabric that enables reduction in set-up and tear-down times for protective shelters, military expedition tents and medical treatment units; Coretech HydroGuard, which is used for CamelBak® chemically protected hydration reservoirs, enables protected potable water supply and hands-free hydration to military personnel; and Coretech EnviroGuard, which is used in protective containers and membranes for the handling and storage of petro-chemicals.
