Kuwait gave an Emiri grant of KD 50 million ($180 million) to the Libyan opposition Transitional National Council (TNC), its Chief Mustafa Abdul Jalil said in a press conference at Bayan Palace after meeting with Kuwait Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Sabah said during the press conference that "historical relations between the Kuwaiti and Libyan people have been always strong and upon this, Kuwait refuses the massacres that the Libyan people are subject to as Kuwait is committed to the UN resolution 1973". He added that Kuwait will provide urgent humanitarian aid to Libya through the TNC, the "legitimate channel of the Libyan people".

The Emiri grant of 50 million dinars will help us pay employees' salaries as we urgently need assistance," Abdul Jalil said, thanking Sheikh Sabah and stressing the historical relationship between Libya and Kuwait.
