The Royal Jordanian Board of Directors have chosen Captain Suleiman Obeidat, a board member, as the Interim President/CEO of the airline effective October 27 for a transitional period of three months.
The board meeting, held yesterday, also accepted the resignation of Captain Haitham Misto from the post of President/CEO.
Captain Obeidat has considerable experience as a pilot and in aviation management. He was the Chief Commissioner of the Jordan Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission between 2007 and 2010; and the Director General of the Jordan Civil Aviation Authority between 2004 and 2007. He also held a number of managerial and technical positions in RJ’s Flight Operations Department since he joined the airline in 1984.
Captain Obeidat was a Pilot at the Royal Jordanian Air Force between 1965 and 1983. He holds a B.Sc. in Military Science and took part in several courses in management, leadership, crew resource management and human factors in the US, the UK and Jordan.
