Marking a significant milestone, Dubai South celebrated its 10th Anniversary in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group.
The ceremonies, held at the Palazzo Versace, also saw Dubai South award the contribution of its key stakeholders and partners. Inspiring speeches, notes of gratitude and dynamic visuals made the event a stellar success.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said: “Today as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Dubai South, we are more determined than ever to continue on our path of excellence and to achieve greatness. The foundation of Dubai South is testimony to the visionary leadership of our ruler His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, without whose guidance, support and direction none of this would have been possible.
In 2006, guided by our ruler’s foresight and vision to see Dubai take center stage as the aviation capital of the world, we set out to build the first master-planned aerotropolis, creating an innovative global gateway that would offer new standards of seamless connectivity. The future economic platform of Dubai, and an integrated urban destination, Dubai South is proudly etching a new blueprint for cities of tomorrow as it rightfully takes its place as the City of You.
And while our work is nowhere near done, we have covered great distances, made enormous strides and are a decade closer to the finish line. After all, ten years is just the beginning.”
This year, all of Dubai South’s hard work, planning and execution came to fruition – a befitting tribute to 10 years of Pioneering Ambition. Dubai South took enormous leaps forward, with new breakthroughs and headline grabbing accomplishments. It witnessed an unprecedented 43 per cent growth in the number of companies operating in Dubai South, with 1,153 new companies signing up with it. This is largely due to its unparalleled infrastructure and strategic location, providing companies with the perfect platform to extend their reach and participate more effectively in the global value chain.
This year also saw Dubai South add another impressive feather to its cap as master developer and successfully launch its real estate project, The Pulse. Its residential communities, geared to offer solutions for everyday living, are a response to an increased market demand for developments centered around the happiness of the individual. This year also saw work commence on Emaar South, a joint venture between Dubai South and Emaar.
Dubai South future pipeline remains robust with key announcements, new partnerships, and breakthrough innovations that will continue to make the City of You relevant for millions.
Dubai South is an emerging 145 sq. km. city situated within the emirate of Dubai that will ultimately sustain a population of one million.
Launched as a Government of Dubai project in 2006, the city is mandated to embody the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum by manifesting the urban and societal themes as outlined in the Dubai Plan 2021. These themes relate to becoming a city of happy, creative and empowered people, an inclusive and cohesive society; the preferred place to live, work and invest, a smart and sustainable city, and a pivotal hub in the global economy.
