City, University of London’s Dubai Centre has announced the launch of a Master of Science (MSc) in Airport Management for Junior Managers looking to boost their career prospects in today’s fast-growing airport industry.
Starting in September, this course has been designed to cater to the growing demand for skilled aviation professionals in the Middle East and around the globe.
It has been tailored to fit around a full-time working schedule and will be delivered by industry experts and leading academics from City’s School of Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering. This part-time course is ideally suited for those working in the operation, maintenance, support and regulatory sectors of the airport industry and wish to move into a managerial role, in order to make a significant contribution to their organization.
From learning how to run an airport efficiently to overseeing all aspects of an airport’s operations, this degree will equip students with the skills necessary to meet the economic and sustainability goals of an aviation organization.
While each of the mandatory eight modules is offered at the Dubai Centre, students have the option to attend some modules in London or Frankfurt.
This degree is supported by the Airports Council International (ACI) World and can be completed in three years. The course does not require a bachelor’s degree for entry; however, applicants must have at least two years of industry experience, along with an ACI diploma or another relevant aviation license.
Given the high volume of passenger traffic in the region, with Dubai Airports in particular expected to reach 90.3 million passengers in 2018, it has become increasingly important to develop the capabilities of Airport Managers.
Captain Tilmann Gabriel, Director MSc Aviation Management courses, commented: “We are excited to be able to offer the new MSc program which has been approved by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority here in Dubai. Next to getting ready for an executive position in the airport industry, the students attending our programs form a lifelong network of industry peers. We expect to attract airport managers from around the globe to join this ACI-backed postgraduate program.”
Dr. Kevin Dunseath, Regional Director MENA and Director Dubai Centre, said: “The aviation sector is of increasing importance both in the MENA region and globally. This new program in Airport Management represents a significant addition to the portfolio of MSc aviation management offered through City’s Dubai Centre.”
