Algerian Chief of Staff Pays Official Visit to Republic of Korea

At the invitation of the Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Korea, General Said Chanegriha, Minister Delegate to the Algerian Minister of National Defence, Chief of Staff of People’s National Army, carried out an official visit to the Republic of Korea, starting Saturday, to participate in Seoul ADEX 2025 (Seoul International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition 2025) taking place from 20-24 October 2025.

On Sunday, General Chanegriha attended the ADEX air show. Accompanied by Officers from the People’s National Army, he watched an aerial demonstration performed by units of the Korean Air Force, including aerial manoeuvres and synchronized formations of combat aircraft.

Furthermore, General Said Chanegriha met with General Son Seok-rak, Commander of the Air Force of the Republic of Korea Armed Forces, who praised Algeria’s important place on the military scene and its commitment to monitoring defence developments on a worldwide scale. He also thanked his Algerian guest for honouring the invitation and for his active participation in this international event.

This visit demonstrates the interest of People’s National Army high command in keeping pace with global technological developments, and is part of the strategic approach to modernizing defence systems and strengthening national capabilities, in accordance with the requirements of today’s world, , the Algerian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

On the second day of this trade fair, General Chanegriha and his accompanying delegation participated to the event official opening ceremony chaired by Mr. Lee Jae Myung, President of the Republic of Korea.

In his opening speech, the President of the Republic of Korea welcomed the participating delegations, expressing the hope that this exhibition would meet the participants’ expectations.

Subsequently, General Chanegriha was received at the International Exhibition Centre “KINTEX” by General Jin Young-Seung, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Republic of Korea (photo).

This meeting, attended by members of the Algerian military delegation and its Korean counterpart, was devoted to assessing the state of bilateral military cooperation between Algeria and the Republic of Korea and examining various ways and means to develop this cooperation, in accordance with the stated wishes of the leaders of both countries.

During this meeting, General Chanegriha delivered a speech in which he expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome granted to him and to the accompanying delegation, and for the invitation extended to him to participate in this important event. He also congratulated the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Republic of Korea on his recent appointment to this position, wishing him every success in carrying out his missions:

For his part, General Jin Young Seung, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Republic of Korea, expressed his pleasure in welcoming General Said Chanegriha and the accompanying delegation, praising the willingness of both parties to lay the foundations for promising military cooperation, in keeping with the strategic partnership between the two countries, by opening up prospects for broader cooperation in the future.

On the third day of his trip to Korea, General Chanegriha and the accompanying delegation visited several stands of the “ADEX 2025” exhibition starting with the Korean company Leading Innovation Group (LIG) where they received a presentation on the company’s latest innovations and the solutions it offers in the field of air defence systems and cutting-edge technologies.

Subsequently, the Algerian delegation visited LIG’s various stands and learned about the various equipment and systems designed and manufactured by the company

LIG executives expressed their desire to strengthen cooperation with Algeria, with a view to promoting the exchange of expertise in areas of common interest, in the mutual interest of the two friendly countries.

General Chanegriha also visited the KIA Enterprise’s special vehicles stand, where the company officials presented the company’s latest special vehicles, highlighting their modern technologies and advanced industrial capabilities. (Source & Photo © Algerian Ministry of National Defense)
