Tawazun Council, the independent government entity that works closely with the UAE Ministry of Defense and the security agencies in the UAE to enhance purchasing value through innovative systems for managing acquisitions, and Roketsan Missile Industries have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at IDEX 2023 which concluded in Abu Dhabi Friday.

Through the MoU, Tawazun Council and Roketsan will continue to work closely together to offer cutting-edge technologies and competitive system solutions to the UAE.

The MoU seeks to allocate resources from both companies to develop high precision and high-speed missile systems, putting them at the forefront of “speed is the new stealth” capabilities.

The Memorandums were signed by Murat İkinci and Muammar Abdulla Abushehab, in the presence of officials from both sides.

Muammar Abdulla Abushehab, Sector Chief, Defense and Security Industrial Affairs of Tawazun Council, commented on the signing: “The partnership with ROKETSAN is a milestone in development and evidence of Tawazun Council's commitment to establishing successful and serious partnerships.”

“Tawazun Council and Roketsan will collaborate to develop cutting-edge technologies for future defense needs, marking a significant achievement in our partnership and demonstrating Tawazun Council's commitment to managing strategic programs in accordance with its new mandate,” he added.

Murat İkinci, CEO of Roketsan, expressed his delight in participating in IDEX and establishing a new trade bridge between Turkey and the UAE. He emphasized the importance of IDEX as an opportunity to deepen relationships and find new partners, stating that the new agreement will lead to accelerating mutual cooperation in defense industries between both countries.

“The joint efforts of Roketsan and Tawazun Council are expected to result in innovative and reliable system solutions with proven performance for domestic and foreign users. The MoU signed at IDEX 2023 is a significant step towards achieving this goal and strengthening the partnership between us to jointly develop advanced missile systems and technologies,” he stressed.

Roketsan was founded in June 1988 by the decision of the Turkish Defense Industries Executive Committee to “establish a leading institution in the country for designing, developing and manufacturing rockets and missiles”.
