Assistant Minister of Defense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Eng. Talal bin Abdullah Al-Otaibi, participated in the roundtable meeting of the 20th Shangri-La Dialogue in the Republic of Singapore that saw the attendance of defense ministers, senior military leaders, and defense and security policymakers from various countries of the world.
The roundtable meeting addressed security and defense challenges worldwide, and possible solutions to provide stability and peace, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The Saudi Assistant Minister of Defense also attended the banquet hosted by the President of the Republic of Singapore, Halimah Yacob, at the Presidential Palace, in honor of heads of delegations of the countries participating in the Shangri-La Dialogue.
On the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue, Eng. Al-Otaibi met with Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs, Dr. Khalid bin Mohamed Al-Attiyah, where they discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations, especially in the defense and military fields.
The Saudi Assistant Minister of Defense also met with Senior Minister of State at the Ministry of Defense of Singapore Zaqy Mohamad, as they reviewed the defense and military cooperation relations in addition to discussing a number of issues of common concern.
Moreover, Eng. Al-Otaibi met with the Defense Minister of Malaysia, Mohamad Hasan, where both sides discussed issues of common concern and ways to enhance bilateral relations.
Also on the sidelines of their participation in the Shangri-La Dialogue, the Saudi Assistant Minister and Pakistani Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), General Sahir Shamshad, convened and affirmed the solid bilateral relations.
During the meeting, they also discussed aspects of cooperation in the military and defense fields, and ways to support and enhance them, in addition to discussing the most prominent issues of common concern.
Furthermore, Eng. Al-Otaibi and the State Secretary in the German Federal Ministry of Defense, Nils Hilmer, discussed means to develop the strategic partnership in the defense and military fields.
He also held a meeting with the Bahraini Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs and Deputy Secretary-General of the Supreme Defense Council, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, where they tackled the bilateral relations in the defense and military fields.
Eng. Al-Otaibi also held a meeting with Dr. John Chipman, the Director-General and Chief Executive of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), and a number of representatives of military and defense companies, during which they discussed ways to enhance defense cooperation and establish effective regional and international partnerships.
Eng. Al-Otaibi headed the Saudi Ministry of Defense delegation that participated in the 20th Shangri-La Dialogue, which kicked off earlier this week in Singapore, with the participation of a number of defense ministers, senior government officials, military analysts, and decision-makers in the diplomatic and security circles.
