General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of People’s National Army Staff, visited Thursday, on the fifth day of his visit to the People’s Republic of China, the headquarters of CATIC in Beijing, a company specialising in the manufacture of aircraft and aeronautical equipment and a subsidiary of the global AVIC Group.
The General was given a presentation on the company’s products, including various types of aircraft such as search and rescue (SAR) aircraft, fire-fighting bombers, helicopters and reconnaissance aircraft. Then, he held a wide-ranging working session with the company’s Managers.
General Chanegriha also visited the headquarters of ELINC, a subsidiary of the CEC Group, which specialises in innovation in electronic and cyber defence techniques and systems, the Algerian Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
On 15 November 2023, General Chanegriha paid a visit to the 72nd Unit of the Chinese Air Forces on his 4th day of visit to China. Hefollowed an air show performed by members of the 72nd unit of the Chinese Air Forces, after which he met with officials of the base. He received comprehensive explanations about the work of air unit personnel, and the formation of crews and staff in the field of military aviation.
General Saïd Chanegriha then visited the Falcon Brigade headquarters of the Special Military Police, where he and his accompanying delegation followed a military series of demonstration and exercises that highlight the combat skills and readiness of the Chinese forces in the face of any type of potential threat.
On 14 November, General Chanegriha had a meeting with General Xu Xiang, Chief of the Equipment Development Department at the Central Military Commission. He conveyed the message of Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the Republic of Algeria, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, to his counterpart, President Xi Jinping, and to the friendly Chinese people:
“I would like to express to you, at the beginning, my sincere thanks and deep gratitude for the hospitality and generosity that we have received since our arrival in the friendly People's Republic of China.
On this occasion, I bring a message of friendship from Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the Republic of Algeria, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, to his counterpart, President Xi Jinping, and to the friendly Chinese people and their Armed forces.”
General Chanegriha also recalled the long-standing relations between the two friendly countries, which witnessed an important expansion of the strategic partnership.
“The recent visit of Mr. President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to your friendly country, at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, had a good impact on strengthening Algerian-Chinese historical relations, as this visit culminated in the signing of nineteen 19 agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), in various fields, including security and defence,” he added.
During this meeting, the two parties discussed ways to enforce military and security coordination and cooperation between the two countries.
After that, General Chanegriha visited the headquarters of the CASIC Military Industries Complex and its Civic Company (CVIC) in the capital Beijing, where he was briefed on the updated production of this company in the field of manufacturing vehicles and armoured vehicles. He also received comprehensive explanations about the modern technologies used in the Chinese defence system.
Then General Chanegriha visited NORINCO Company, located on the outskirts of the Chinese capital, where he was received by executives of this company who expressed their desire to exchange experiences with Algeria in the field of military industries.
On the second day of his official visit to the People’s Republic of China, General Saïd Chanegriha carried out on 13 November, a visit to the Astronaut Centre in Beijing, where he was briefed on the technical and logistical capabilities of this centre, including the methods used in Astronauts work.
The General toured the exhibition hall, which includes the most prominent stages of the development of the Chinese Space Agency, and the most important technological products presented by various companies and academies in China in order to develop work in the field of space and satellite communication.
Upon his arrival to China on 12 November 2023, General Chanegriha was welcomed at Beijing International Airport by Brigadier General Jan Bao Chgin, Deputy Chief of the International Cooperation Office (OIMC).
On the first day of his visit, General Chanegriha carried out a working session with executives of the Chinese company “Poly Technologies Inc.” which specializes in military industries.
