The Defense Military Committee, established by the Saudi-Malaysian Coordination Council, held its first meeting in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.
The meeting was chaired by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense Undersecretary for Strategic Affairs Major General Salman Al-Harbi and Malaysian Ministry of Defense Deputy Secretary-General for Policy Mohd Yani bin Daud.
During the meeting, held at the Malaysian Ministry of Defense, discussions covered relations and cooperation between the Defense Ministries of the two countries.
The meeting focused on ways to enhance relations in the defense field to serve mutual interests, and other issues of concern, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Al-Harbi also held a meeting with Malaysian Ministry of Defense Secretary-General Datuk Seri Hisham bin Ishak (photo), with the two sides discussing bilateral relations and ways to strengthen defense cooperation and coordination.
Al-Harbi also visited the Saudi Military Attaché office in Kuala Lumpur and Brunei, where he reviewed its tasks, roles, and ongoing activities.
In another development, the Saudi Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz received Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi in Riyadh earlier this week.
The Saudi Minister of Interior commended the GCC General Secretariat for its efforts in strengthening security initiatives among the GCC countries to fulfill the vision of their leaders. They also discussed topics of mutual interest during the meeting.
