ASELSAN Chairman, President and CEO Prof. Dr. Haluk GÖRGÜN evaluated the company’s third quarter financial results as follows:
“In addition to being the first name that comes to mind of our security forces when technology is mentioned, we have completed another period in which we continue our sustainable growth by fulfilling our duty of “serving the country” in the best way, with the solutions we offer to our country in the field of civilian technologies. Our revenue, which increased by 72% as of the third quarter of 2022, reached 17.7 billion Turkish Lira (TL).
In the first 9 months of 2022, we made a financial contribution to our suppliers by paying close to 17.4 billion TL. In addition, we successfully completed the nationalization of 128 products in this 9-month period. Thus, we have increased the number of products we have nationalized in the last 3 years to over 635 and ensured that a size close to 430 million USD remains in our country.
In 2022, we have sold ASELSAN products to two new countries where no sales have been made so far. In the last 3.5 years, we have increased the number of countries that are users of our products to 80 by adding 17 new countries. The number of our products exported for the first time reached 44.”
We Are Pioneers with Our Domestic National Products
“We provided transportation to TEKNOFEST Samsun, the world's largest aviation, space and technology festival, which brings together science and high technology products with our youth, with the first 100% domestic electric buses of the Turkish automotive industry, whose traction system components were developed by ASELSAN. Buses started to serve in urban transportation in Samsun and made its first flight between Canik district and 19 Mayıs Üniversitesi.
We met with young people at our Entrepreneurship Center at the TEKNOFEST Black Sea 2022 event, which we participated as a stakeholder. As part of our Entrepreneurship Program, we will continue to support deep technology initiatives by opening new small businesses to young people. While more than fifty of our products were exhibited at the ASELSAN stand, we had the opportunity to explore coding, robotics and artificial intelligence with our children at our Techno Adventure stand.”
We Are Also on the Stage in the International Arena
“We continued to make an impact in the international arena with our high technologies that we produced with our domestic and national power. We participated in the NATO exercise with our MARLIN unmanned sea vehicle produced under the coordination of our Presidency of Defense Industries. MARLIN is the world's first unmanned surface platform carrying electronic warfare systems.
As ASELSAN, we participated in ADEX 2022 held in Azerbaijan with our 62 products and systems. We hosted the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at our booth, where our Chief of General Staff Gen. Yaşar Güler was also present, and gave important information about our products.”
Our Sustainability Studies are Always Continuing
“We continue our work without slowing down with our sustainability and environmental approach. In line with our Sustainable Product Packaging Policy, we started the first environmentally friendly packaging design studies with our IP camera product family. We continue to produce with the awareness of our responsibility towards our environment.
Within the scope of the International Business Awards program organized by The Stevie for the 19th time this year, ASELSAN also achieved a significant success. With the projects described within the scope of the net zero emission target for 2050, we were entitled to receive the silver award in the Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year category with the Green Climate for the Future topic.”
Next Generations Are Our Stakeholders
“We did not break the tradition this year as we were deemed worthy of the first prize in the Engineering and Information Technologies category of the Universum Türkiye Most Attractive Employers Research in 2022, as in previous years. In addition, we have won five awards, four gold and one bronze, at the Brandon Hall Excellence Awards with our projects that we have implemented to contribute to our employees and young talents. We will continue to create value for our future generations.”
ASELSAN Chairman, President and CEO Prof. Dr. Haluk GÖRGÜN concluded: “With our strong balance sheet and strong equities, we will continue to progress with the same determination to work in the last period of 2022, to achieve new successes with the strength we derive from our nation, and to transfer this to our financial results. In the defense sector, where seasonal effects are evident, I foresee that we will achieve better results as we enter the last quarter of the year compared to previous years. I would like to thank our Presidency of Defense Industries, my precious ASELSAN family and all our stakeholders, especially our Honorable President.”
