Safran announced three Executive Committee appointments, effective 04 April 2023:
- Franck Saudo named CEO of Safran Electronics & Defense. He succeeds Martin Sion who becomes CEO of ArianeGroup, a JV of Safran and Airbus
- Cédric Goubet appointed CEO of Safran Helicopter Engines, replacing Franck Saudo
- François Bastin named CEO of Safran Landing Systems, succeeding Cédric Goubet
Franck Saudo has been named Chief Executive Officer of Safran Electronics & Defense as of 04 April. He is a member of the Group’s Executive Committee and succeeds Martin Sion, appointed Chief Executive Officer of ArianeGroup, a joint-venture of Safran and Airbus.
Franck Saudo started his career in 2003 at the Treasury Department of the French Ministry of Finance. In 2007, he was named financial sector advisor to the cabinet of the French Minister of the Economy, Industry and Employment. He joined Safran in 2011 as deputy to the Group's Executive Vice President for Strategy and Development. In July 2013, he was named Vice President, Support & Services at Turbomeca (now Safran Helicopter Engines). In 2017, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Safran Transmission Systems, and in 2018, named Chief Executive Officer of Safran Helicopter Engines.
Franck Saudo, 46, holds degrees from the Ecole Polytechnique (2000), the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées (2003) and the London School of Economics (2003).
Cédric Goubet has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Safran Helicopter Engines as of today. He succeeds Franck Saudo and is a member of the Group’s Executive Committee.
Cédric Goubet started his career as a senior civil servant. In 2004, he was appointed advisor to the French ministers of the interior and the economy. In 2007, he was named chief of staff for French President Nicolas Sarkozy, a position he held until joining Safran in 2010 as deputy to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Operations. He was named Vice President for CFM programs at Snecma (now Safran Aircraft Engines) and Executive Vice President of CFM International in 2011. In 2015 he became Executive Vice President, Commercial Engine division at Safran Aircraft Engines. In 2018, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Safran Nacelles and in 2020, named Chief Executive Officer of Safran Landing Systems.
Cédric Goubet, 51, holds a political science degree from Paris IEP (Institut d'Études Politiques, 1993) and a master's degree in international economics from Paris Dauphine University (1994). He also attended ENA (École Nationale d'Administration), the leading school for French senior civil servants (1998).
François Bastin has been named Chief Executive Officer of Safran Landing Systems and member of the Group’s Executive Committee, effective today. He succeeds Cédric Goubet.
François Bastin joined Snecma, now Safran Aircraft Engines, in 1997, working in the Engineering division up to the responsibility of preliminary design performance. In 2004, he moved to the Industrial Operations division, where he led the rotating part Forge unit within the Gennevilliers plant, and the Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma transformation. In 2009, he was named director of the LEAP program. In 2015, François Bastin was appointed Vice President, CFM Programs at Safran Aircraft Engines and Executive Vice President of CFM International. In 2018, he was named Vice President, Commercial Engines division at Safran Aircraft Engines.
François Bastin, 51, is a graduate of École Normale Supérieure (1993). He holds a PhD in energetics from École Centrale de Paris (1995) and did post-doctoral work at Stanford University in California.
