Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, as part of his official visit to the Republic of Türkiye, met on Wednesday with Defence Industry Agency President Haluk Gorgun and executives of large Turkish industrial companies.
Participants reviewed cooperation opportunities in the defense field according to Saudi Vision 2030.
Prince Khalid and Gorgun witnessed the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between Saudi and Turkish companies (photo).
The signing ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials from the two countries, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Earlier, the Saudi Minister of Defense visited on Wednesday Turkish Aerospace Industries Company (TAI) in Ankara and Turkish Defense Industries Company Baykar in Istanbul.
During the two visits, the Saudi Defense Minister was briefed on the capabilities and potential of the two companies, along with their most prominent projects, modern products, and advanced technologies. Prince Khalid bin Salman toured the facilities of the two companies and listened to explanations of their future plans and strategies.
The Saudi Minister of Defense on Tuesday met at his residence in Ankara with a delegation from the Turkish Defense Industries Company (ASELSAN), which briefed him on its most prominent projects and latest products and services.
The Defense Minister was accompanied during the two visits by senior officials.
Upon his arrival to Turkey, Prince Khalid met Tuesday with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Presidential Palace in the Turkish Capital, Ankara. The two sides reviewed bilateral relations and ways to enhance them. They also discussed developments in the regional and international arenas and the efforts made towards them.
Later on Tuesday, Turkish Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler received the Saudi Minister of Defense. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Turkish Ministry of Defense during Prince Khalid bin Salman’s official visit to Türkiye.
Both Ministers held an expanded bilateral meeting, attended by the delegations of both Ministries, discussing the various aspects of Saudi-Turkish relations. They addressed ways to further enhance and develop the existing and future cooperation between the Defense Ministries of the two countries.
Additionally, they discussed efforts to achieve peace and their two countries’ joint endeavors to achieve security and stability in the region and the world.
Upon his arrival at the Ministry’s headquarters, Prince Khalid bin Salman was welcomed by an official reception ceremony, where the national anthems of both countries were played and honor guards were displayed.
The reception was attended by Chief of the General Staff of Saudi Arabia Lieutenant-General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, Assistant Minister of Defense Talal Bin Abdullah Al-Otaibi, Assistant Minister of Defense for Executive Affairs Khaled bin Hussein Al-Bayari, Saudi Ambassador to Türkiye Fahad bin Assaad Bin Abdulkareem Abualnasr, and Director-General of the Office of the Minister of Defense Hisham bin Abdulaziz bin Saif.
From Türkiye, several senior officials attended the meeting, including Chief of the Turkish General Staff General Metin Gürak, and Turkish Deputy Minister of National Defense Bilal Durdali.
