Within the framework of last week’s state visit of Qatar’s Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to the United Kingdom, the Qatari and the United Kingdom Ministries of Defence signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate in air capabilities and related services.

The MoU also aims to enhance the existing cooperation between the Qatari Armed Forces and the British Royal Armed Forces.

The MoU was signed Thursday on the Qatari side by Chief of Staff of Qatar Armed Forces HE Lieutenant-General (Pilot) Jassim bin Mohammed Al Mannai, and the British side was signed by Chief of Staff of the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom Air Chief Marshal Richard Knighton, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

Earlier, Qatar’s National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) signed on Wednesday a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of the United Kingdom of Britain and Northern Ireland in the field of cybersecurity, on the sidelines of the visit of the Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The Agency was represented by its President HE Engineer Abdulrahman bin Ali Al Farahid Al Malki while the British side was represented by Jonathan Allen, director-general of Defence and Intelligence at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in the UK.

The Memorandum aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation, exchange experiences, and develop joint capabilities to face the growing cyber challenges, in order to contribute to achieving the common interests of the two countries.
