Iraq’s Defense Minister Thabit Al-Abbasi headed on Tuesday, the Iraqi delegation visiting the United States to hold discussions on ending the coalition’s mission.
Al-Abbasi headed the delegation of the Republic of Iraq on an official visit to the United States of America, which held the second round of discussions to end the mission of the international coalition in Iraq, according to a statement by the Ministry of Defense - received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
On Wednesday, the Defense Minister confirmed that the Iraqi government will frame its relationship with the United States of America in accordance with the law and the constitution.
Al-Abbasi said in a press statement during the second round of dialogue that “the Iraqi government will frame its relationship with the United States of America in accordance with the Iraqi law and constitution”.
He further pointed out that “Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mohammad Shia al-Sudani is keen to create sustainability between the Iraqi and American Ministries of Defense”.
For his part, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that “the current dialogue between Iraq and the United States is based on the visit of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani to Washington.”
