L3Harris Technologies has been awarded a contract by the U.S. government to develop a next-generation security processor to secure communication devices across the globe.

L3Harris’ efforts will enhance the performance of security and management infrastructure for communication hardware. This includes safeguarding weapons systems against current and future cyber threats.

“This award builds on L3Harris’ 30-year legacy of developing and producing secure communication hardware infrastructure solutions for the U.S. and our international partners,” said Nino DiCosmo, President, Maritime, L3Harris.

“Our technology ensures the highest levels of security, resiliency, performance and lethality for weapons systems when used in highly contested operations,” he added.

L3Harris will leverage its skilled, multi-disciplinary team with unique expertise in security processing to deliver enhanced capabilities to military and intelligence professionals worldwide.

Earlier, L3Harris announced it has received a contract from the Canadian Commercial Corporation to provide 16 WESCAM MX™-20 surveillance and targeting systems to support the country’s P-8A aircraft (photo). Operated by the Royal Canadian Air Force, the P-8A will conduct critical maritime and overland patrol and reconnaissance missions using WESCAM MX-Series systems.

“Integrating our proven technology with the P-8A equips Canada with the most advanced ISR imaging solution,” said Tom Kirkland, Vice President and General Manager, Targeting and Sensor Systems, L3Harris.

“Maritime and national security, including missions in the Arctic, require extremely reliable systems like the WESCAM MX-20 to enhance critical security coast-to-coast,” he stressed.

The contract also marks the 8,000th WESCAM MX-Series EO/IR system delivered to customers globally. L3Harris’ WESCAM MX-Series EO/IR surveillance and targeting systems are active in over 87 countries, supporting missions across air, land and sea on more than 260 different platforms. The new contract with Canada builds on the 11 WESCAM MX-20 systems L3Harris announced last year for a new fleet of remotely piloted aircraft.

L3Harris Technologies is the Trusted Disruptor in the defense industry. With customers’ mission-critical needs always in mind, L3Harris’ employees deliver end-to-end technology solutions connecting the space, air, land, sea and cyber domains in the interest of national security.
