Rear Admiral Shahram Irani was appointed by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei as the new Commander of the Iranian Army’s Navy.
In a decree on Tuesday, Ayatollah Khamenei appointed Rear Admiral Irani to the position of the Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army Navy, Fars News Agency (FNA) reported.
The Leader stated in the decree that the appointment was made in view of the commander's commitment and valuable experiences upon a proposal by the Army Commander.
Ayatollah Khamenei also appreciated Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi’s efforts as the previous Army’s Navy Commander.
Rear Admiral Irani has served in different military posts in the past two decades. He was the Deputy Commander of the Iranian Navy’s first zone and Deputy Navy Commander for operations.
