KBR, a global engineering, construction and services company has been selected by the UK's Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) to provide life support, vehicle maintenance and healthcare services in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The three-year contract has been won by KBR's UK-based International Government & Defense business unit.

Under this contract, KBR will deliver a comprehensive suite of services such as medical support (including nursing and medical supplies), fleet management of armored and soft skin vehicles, interpreters, sustenance, laundry, environmental services and fuel.

The KBR services will be spread across Baghdad, Basra and Erbil in Iraq, and Kabul and Lashkar Gah in Afghanistan.

The deal also provides FCO with options for vehicle maintenance in Sudan and Pakistan.

This builds on the US-based company's existing relationship with FCO delivering services in challenging environments.

"KBR is proud to provide essential services to the British Government in Afghanistan and Iraq, building upon the work we already do in these countries for the UK Ministry of Defense," said Andrew Pringle, President, KBR International Government & Defense.

KBR International Government & Defense has over 3,000 people working in Afghanistan supporting British and NATO troops who are part of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) with key essential services, including managing airfields, running water bottling plants, installing hospital equipment, delivering fuel supplies, catering and constructing rocket-proof shelters and other buildings.
