The French Shipbuilding Industry at IMDEX Singapore
10.05.2013 Europe
Singapore, France's largest trading partner in Southeast Asia and the third largest in Asia, is the fourth largest recipient of French investments in Asia, behind China, Japan and Hong Kong.
Singapore’s strong growth in recent years was supported by an increase of large projects and major French companies were able to win a number of tenders.
Defense cooperation plays a central role in the bilateral relationship between France and Singapore that spends 25% of its budget on security, especially in the maritime sector.
Attracted by this favorable economic environment, the GICAN (Groupement des Industries de Construction et Activités Navales) will take part in IMDEX (International Maritime Defense Exhibition & Conference) from 14 to 16 May 2013 in the French Pavilion, to promote the expertise of French industry.
Sixteen companies will be present at the Changi Exhibition Center to showcase their best products and services in the field of maritime and naval defense. Presentations will be made to Navy Chiefs of Staff, Senior Military Officers, Defense Officials, Government Representatives and industry leaders from all around the world.
GICAN will also use the IMDEX opportunity to launch the marketing campaign of the 24th EURONAVAL Exhibition in Paris from 27-31 October 2014. Dedicated to the whole naval and maritime industry, EURONAVAL keeps growing, bolstered by the success of the 2012 Exhibition at Le Bourget with 370 exhibitors, 50% of which were international exhibitors coming from 33 countries.
EURONAVAL 2012 was attended by 30,458 professional visitors, 96 high-level official delegations from 67 countries, over 300 special guests and 400 journalists. Acknowledged as a key event, EURONAVAL will become, once again, the favored meeting place of buyers, experts and decision-makers from the world over.
