KONGSBERG revealed the next generation NASAMS GBAD. A new and some would say futuristic, next generation air defence console is presented to current and potential NASAMS customers at the Farnborough International Air Show.
“We perceive we’ve had the competitive edge in the field of GBAD C4I for years already and by introducing this new GBAD capability we continue to stay ahead of our competition”, said Eirik Lie, Executive Vice President, Kongsberg Defence Systems.
The NASAMS system has already demonstrated the unprecedented capability to integrate to a variety of sensors and effectors because of its flexible and open architecture. The next generation C2 capability, materialized by the Air Defence Next Generation (ADX) console, emphasizes even more on improving the decision making process through enhanced operator situational awareness and interaction compared to its predecessor, the ADC. The scalable ADX utilizes new technologies and enhances the existing NASAMS open, component based architecture for true plug and fight flexibility.
“This is a continuance of our design philosophy. By exploring the opportunities brought to us by new technology and by including a mix of experienced and younger generation air defenders in the process we’ve come up with the ADX, an optimized operator console that is truly addressing the skills of younger generations of operators”, Eirik Lie says.
The response has been overwhelming for customers who have already had the opportunity to see it in action.
