On June 30, 2014, the Renault Trucks Defense (RTD) Group celebrated the 500th ACMAT VLRA 2 produced in Saint-Nazaire.

Six years after its sales launch, the firm's new Liaison, Reconnaissance and Support vehicle is already in service in more than 13 countries in Africa and Europe.

As the heir to the famous VLRA, well known by European and in particular African Land Forces, the 500th unit of the VLRA 2 range is included in the Mali order being produced.

Since its creation in the Saint-Nazaire design office between 2007 and 2008, and built on an upgraded assembly line, the VLRA 2 has been increasingly successful on account of its ability to fully meet difficult operating conditions in theaters of operation, in particular through its extremely high strength chassis built on site.

VLRA is a family of light tactical vehicles (8.5 to 12 tons) sharing the same 4x4 chassis specifically designed for military needs. The successor to the well-known VLRA 1, 12,000 of which have been sold worldwide, it retains the latter’s ruggedness, “no-electronics” versions, range and famous low gooseneck chassis.

The VLRA family includes a wide range of 4x4 (four different wheel bases) and 6x6logistics and personnel carriers, as well as a Special Forces VLRA Commando version.

The VLRA is already in service in several African and European countries.

ACMAT Defense, a Renault Trucks Defense company, was created in 1947. Located in Saint-Nazaire, France, ACMAT has dozens of customers for its new range of light tactical and armored vehicles ranging from 3.5 to 17 tons (ALTV, VLRA and Bastion), especially in Africa where their ruggedness is much valued.
