Oshkosh: 800 Protection Kits for the US Army
11.01.2011 North America
Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation, will deliver 800 protection kits for the MRAP All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) following an order from the U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC).
“These protection kits are part of our ongoing work with the military to deliver exceptional
M-ATV survivability against evolving threats on the modern battlefield,” said Charlie Szews, Oshkosh Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer. “The rapid production and delivery of these kits is the result of a close collaboration with our customer and our shared commitment to the Warfighters. Oshkosh is dedicated to supporting those who serve with world-class protection and mobility solutions.”
The M-ATV is produced with factory-installed armor and also can accept add-on armor and protection kits. The vehicle’s modular design allows bolt-on armor to be installed or repaired in the field. Using the Oshkosh TAK-4® independent suspension system, the M-ATV can incorporate add-on protection kits while maintaining its full payload capacity of 4,000 pounds and a 70% off-road profile capability.
Oshkosh produces the M-ATV base, as well as tactical ambulance and Special Forces Vehicle (SFV) variants, for the U.S. military. The company has received awards to date for nearly 8,400 M-ATVs, as well as spare parts kits, upgrade kits and aftermarket support. Deliveries under this order are scheduled to be completed in summer 2011. The order has a ceiling price of $80 million.
