Harris Corporation, an international communications and information technology company, received a $5.5 million order to supply additional Falcon II(r) AN/VRC-103 multiband, multimission vehicular radio systems
to the U.S. Department of Defense for use in Mine Resistant Ambush Protected All-Terrain Vehicles (M-ATVs).
The Harris AN/VRC-103 is a fully integrated communication system that includes the Falcon II(r) AN/PRC-117F(C) software-defined manpack radio. Widely deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan, the AN/PRC-117F covers multiple frequencies using military standard voice and data waveforms, ensuring interoperability with a variety of ground-based and airborne equipment. The radio features advanced voice, data and tactical satellite capabilities for communicating on the networked battlefield. The AN/VRC-103 and associated AN/PRC-117F will be installed in U.S. Army MRAP-ATV vehicles. Harris Falcon series radios are installed in the majority of M-ATV vehicles currently deployed.
"The AN/PRC-117F was the first to integrate line-of-sight voice and data, ground-to-air and beyond line-of-sight satellite communications interoperability in a single manpack radio," said Brendan O'Connell, President, U.S. Department of Defense business, Harris RF Communications. "This radio will provide the warfighter with reliable, secure communications as they embark on their daily missions."
Harris also received an $11 million order from the Australia Department of Defence (DoD) for Falcon III® tactical radios as part of a networked battlefield communications system in Army vehicles.
Harris is supplying the Australian DoD with Falcon III® RF-152(C) handheld radios along with RF-300M Trimline Vehicular Adapters for installation into a variety of Army vehicles including Army Bushmaster protected mobility vehicles. The Harris equipment provides interoperable tactical voice and data communications for both ground-to-ground and ground-to-air applications.
