Raytheon Receives New Superior Security & EPA Awards
19.03.2012 North America
Raytheon Missile Systems (RMS) received its second consecutive superior security rating in an annual vulnerability assessment by the U.S. Defense Security Service (DSS).
DSS completed a two-week review at Raytheon Missile Systems headquarters in Tucson (Arizona) and rated the site’s security practices.
“Safeguarding of information essential to the protection of warfighters is of utmost concern to RMS employees. This superior rating is further validation that our security processes and practices are best in class,” said Dr. Taylor W. Lawrence, President of RMS.
A superior rating is reserved for contractors that have consistently and fully implemented the requirements of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual. The facility must have documented procedures that heighten the security awareness of employees, a sustained high level of management support for the security program, and the absence of any serious security issues. With more than 10,000 employees in Tucson, RMS headquarters is the largest Raytheon facility to receive a superior rating from DSS.
“Here at Raytheon Missile Systems, we are constantly finding ways to improve our already superior security practices. These security programs are part of Raytheon's ongoing commitment to Mission Assurance,” said Ken White, Director of RMS Global Security Services.
Meanwhile, and for the fifth consecutive year, Raytheon was recognized with the 2012 ENERGY STAR® Sustained Excellence Award by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for ongoing leadership in energy conservation, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and innovative energy efficiency practices. Raytheon received its award at an EPA ceremony in Washington, D.C.
Raytheon was selected for the Sustained Excellence Award from about 20,000 public and private sector ENERGY STAR partners. The company has received 8 awards in its 12 years of participation in the ENERGY STAR program.
“It is a great honor to once again receive this outstanding recognition. Since Raytheon joined the ENERGY STAR program, it has been exciting to see how passionate our teammates continue to be about Raytheon's sustainability efforts. They are constantly looking for new efficiencies and improvements that raise the bar, and their initiative helps simultaneously drive cost savings and protect our communities for future generations,” said Raytheon Chairman and CEO William H. Swanson.
“As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the ENERGY STAR program, EPA is proud to recognize Raytheon with the 2012 ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence Award. Raytheon and all our ENERGY STAR award winners are helping Americans find cost-effective ways to save energy in everything we do, which is good for our climate, our health, and our future,” said EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson.
