Telephonics’ RaVEN to Control US Borders
25.06.2012 North America
Telephonics Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Griffon Corporation, announced that they are taking a lead role in providing a technological solution to maintain the integrity of the US borders near Nogales, Arizona.
This will be the first phase of a major U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) initiative, known as “Integrated Fixed Towers,” or “IFT.”
Telephonics will introduce their Radar and Video Enforcement Network (RaVEN), to the CBP as a fully compliant solution to their IFT requirements.
RaVEN will provide Border Patrol Agents with a robust, user-friendly product that will enhance situational awareness and a unified picture of U.S. Borders. CBP’s familiarity with the systems offered as Telephonics’ RaVEN will ensure a rapid execution of the first phase of the Arizona Southwest Border Initiative.
Telephonics’ strategic partnership with logistics and infrastructure support contractors will allow the installment, integration, and deployment of well-placed RaVEN systems along the U.S. border. This offers CBP a tower design that is reliable, modular, and ruggedized for the environment in which it will be used.
As an added benefit, Telephonics’ thorough understanding of the requirements and lessons learned while working with CBP agents in the field has enabled product refinement that truly defines RaVEN as Commercial-off-the-Shelf while being fully responsive to their needs.
RaVEN brings years of experience in sensor deployment in harsh desert environments, and is the most cost effective, high performance, and reliable solution available today.
“We are very pleased with the team that has come together and the capability that RaVEN will deliver to U.S. Border Patrol Agents. With RaVEN we will greatly enhance the safety and detection capabilities of CBP with this outstanding new integrated solution,” said Joseph Battaglia, President and CEO of Telephonics Corporation.
