25.07.2012 North America
Earlier this month, L-3 Display Systems (L-3 DS) was awarded a contract from The Boeing Company to provide the Multi-Purpose Display (MPD) on the AH-64D Apache helicopter.
The 6.25″ x 6.25″ MPD is a form, fit, function backward- and forward-compatible solution that keeps life-cycle costs to a minimum, while providing improved product reliability, assured long-term availability, performance enhancements and product growth provisions. This contract was awarded in October 2011, and manufacturing and product deliveries are under way.
“The MPD contract expands our successful, long-standing relationship with The Boeing Company and the U.S. Army AH-64D Apache team in delivering high-resolution displays with unmatched performance to meet warfighter operational requirements and environmental conditions. L-3 DS will provide a low-risk and best-value MPD that meets or exceeds our customer’s specifications, goals, needs, schedules and business objectives,” said Bruce Coffey, President of L-3 Display Systems.
Since its inception, the AH-64 Apache has been developed using incremental technology insertions at regular intervals to ensure that the world’s most capable multi-function combat helicopter meets the current and future needs of the warfighter and AH-64 Apache program.
