ATK announced it was awarded a Fixed Price Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract from the U.S. Army for the production of Mk248 Mod 0, 190-grain and Mk248 Mod 1, 220-grain 300 Win. Magnum (Win Mag) rifle ammunition.  The Army has selected this ammunition for primary use in its M2010 Sniper rifle.

The five-year 300 Win Mag ammunition contract is in its first year. The contract has a total of five 12-month ordering periods. This award has an estimated maximum value of $20 million over the life of the contract, and an initial delivery order for the ammunition was received at the time of the award.

“ATK is committed to providing advanced, affordable and mission-critical solutions to our nation's warfighters. We are proud the U.S. Army has selected our 300 Win Mag ammunition. These products are highly engineered and manufactured with stringent quality assurance processes to ensure optimum performance,” said ATK's Sporting Group President Jay Tibbets.

Meanwhile, ATK  received last week a contract from the Republic of Korea Army for the purchase, installation and integration of its AAR-47 Missile Warning System with Hostile Fire Indication (HFI and Laser Warning) onto AH-1S helicopters. The upgrade will also include the installation of the AN/ALE-47 countermeasure dispensing system.

ATK's AAR-47 Missile Warning System is a combat-proven electronic warfare system designed to protect helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft from surface-to-air threats. The program was awarded as a result of a competition with a firm fixed-price contract for $7 million to upgrade the helicopters.

The AAR-47 is the only system in use today that integrates missile, laser and hostile fire threat warning into a single system. With ATK's unique HFI capability added to the AAR-47, military aircrews flying helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft can detect a wider range of threats to their aircraft, including smaller-caliber weapon fire and rocket propelled grenades, and quickly respond with countermeasures. ATK is the only company to deliver this key capability as part of a proven missile warning system.

The AAR-47 missile warning system is installed on more than 3,200 fixed and rotary-wing aircraft and is flown by the U.S. and its allies in more than 16 countries. The systems are installed on aircraft such as the C-5, C-17, C-130, P-3, CH-53/MH-53, CH-46, HH/SH-60, UH-60P, AH-1W/Z, UH-1N/Y and MV-22.

The Symetrics AN/ALE-47 CMDS is an Electronic Warfare self-protection suite that provides combat aircrews with enhanced survivability against surface-to-air and air-to-air missile threats in all environments, by dispensing chaff or flares, and is a complement to ATK's AAR-47.
