Kaman Corporation announced that its Aerosystems division (Kaman) has been awarded a multi-year contract for the production of the fixed trailing edge (FTE) kits and assemblies for the Boeing KC-46A Tanker Program.

“Kaman has worked with Boeing to develop a more monolithic design over the base 767 aircraft for the tanker. The KC-46A Tanker FTE kit award exemplifies Kaman’s capabilities and Boeing’s continued confidence in us,” stated Greg Steiner, President of Kaman Aerospace Group.

Kaman delivered its first KC-46A Tanker FTE kit to Boeing in March 2014. To date Kaman has provided more than 1,000 FTE kits and assemblies for the 767 program since 1986.

Kaman is a leading supplier of integrated structures, including metallic and composite structural assemblies and detail metallic parts, for OEM and Tier I aerospace companies engaged in commercial and military aircraft programs. Kaman provides complete aero-structure solutions including design, tooling, manufacturing, testing, and product support.

The KC-46 is a widebody, multi-role tanker that promises to revolutionize the air mobility mission. It can refuel all U.S., allied and coalition military aircraft compatible with international aerial refueling procedures, any time, on any mission, and can carry passengers, cargo and patients whenever and wherever needed.

The ability to detect, avoid, defeat and survive threats using multiple layers of protection will allow the KC-46 to operate safely in medium-threat environments. With unmatched operational flexibility, the KC-46 is a mobility game changer.
