The United States Air Force’s elite unit, the Guardian Angels, has selected INVISIO to provide a suite of hearing enhancement devices that will enable airmen to communicate in critical and extremely noisy environments, while protecting their hearing and increasing their situational awareness.
The initial order, placed in December 2019, had a value of approximately SEK 28 million, and deliveries will take place in the first half of 2020.
“We are very proud to be selected by the Guardian Angels. It is an important win for us, as the rest of the world studies closely the solutions the US elite forces use,” said Lars Højgård Hansen, CEO of INVISIO.
The Guardian Angels decided on INVISIO based on the interoperability with aerial and ground situations. The chosen system is mission specific and tailored to their personnel recovery requirements. The solution will allow Combat Rescue Officers, Pararescue men, and Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape Specialists to wear hearing protection, yet still provide the opportunity to communicate and understand what is going on around them.
“Guardian Angels have unique recovery and support missions utilizing various helicopters and aircraft. We look forward to providing them with an integrated suite of specialized and tailored tactical communications systems combining both protection and efficiency,” said Ray Clarke, Head of INVISIO Inc.
The Guardian Angels have conducted over 12,000 lifesaving, combat rescue missions since 2001. Additionally, because of their unique capabilities, they have been called upon to lead the rescue of over 5,000 civilians worldwide from serious natural disasters.
