The Russian Strategic Missile Troops (RVSN) is creating a mobile nitrogen and oxygen production facility, Dmitry Andreyev, Defense Ministry spokesman for the RVSN, told RIA Novosti.
“The station is a complex of interconnected equipment that … is able to operate on self-contained diesel powered units,” Andreyev said.
According to the spokesman, the mobile station will enable the production of nitrogen and oxygen under wartime conditions in any given location. Compressed nitrogen can be used in the launch equipment of missile systems.
The Russian Strategic Missile Troops is a branch of the Russian Armed Forces that is in control of Russia’s intercontinental ballistic missiles. The RSVN was created on December 17, 1959, and specializes in the attack of enemy nuclear weapons, military facilities and industrial infrastructure.
