Algeria, India Sign Military Cooperation Agreement

General Said Chanegriha, Chief of People’s National Army Staff, received General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff of Republic of India, during his visit to Algeria with a high-level military delegation.

The two parties discussed the areas of bilateral military cooperation and ways to strengthen security coordination, as well as exchanged views on international security challenges and current issues, the Algerian Ministry of Defence said in a statement.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary General of the Algerian Ministry of National Defence, the Commanders of Forces, the National Gendarmerie, the Chiefs of Departments and the Central Directors of People’s National Army Staff and the Ministry of National Defence, the Ambassador of the Republic of India to Algeria and members of the Indian delegation.

The two parties also signed a memorandum of cooperation in the military field between the Ministry of National Defence of People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of India.

Earlier, General Said Chanegriha received Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, on the sidelines of his visit to Algeria to attend the military parade, organized on the occasion of the commemoration of the glorious Liberation Revolution.

The General stressed the depth of bilateral relations maintained by the two countries, reflected in particular by the positions of the Russian Federation towards Algeria, in the different phases of its history.

For his part, Lieutenant General Alexandre Fomine said he was happy to visit Algeria and attend the military parade, which he praised, both in terms of organization and execution. (Source & Photo © Algerian Ministry of Defense)
