Bahrain’s Patrolmen assigned to tackle riots are being mentally and physically rehabilitated through a one-year training program, said a Senior Government Official.
Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa added that Policemen will be provided with a fire-resistant outfit, a helmet to protect the head, face and neck, and other tools to protect their chest, back, arms, shoulders, legs and feet.
They will also be provided with shields and sticks that meet international standards. They will be given gas and sound bombs as well as guns that fire rubber bullets.
These weapons comply with rules and regulations in the Public Security Forces law. The Police Force will also have vehicles equipped with all safety measures as well as modern communications technology.
Sheikh Rashid said the modernization of equipment will assist policemen in performing their duties. He said the recent rioting in residential areas is a threat to civil peace and called upon people to end the issue and move forward, united.
