Bahrain’s King Concludes Visit to Russia’s “Army-2016”

Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa paid a visit to the International military-technical forum “Army-2016” held in Kubinka in the Moscow region, on the sidelines of his visit to the Russian Federation.

Upon his arrival at the Army-2016 forum (photo), the King was welcomed by Russian Deputy Prime Minister for military-industrial complex, Dmitry Rogozin, and the Russian Defense Minister General Sergei Shoigu, and inspected the Russian Guard of Honor.

The King was briefed on the latest Russian military technology of the military equipment on exhibition, including the high-tech Russian air defense missile system (S-400) and the latest Russian T-14 Armata tanks.

After the tour, he held official talks with the Russian Deputy Prime Minister on aspects of cooperation in the field of space science between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Russian Federation.

He stressed the importance of benefiting from the Russian expertise to meet Bahrain’s future goals and aspirations in the field of space science.

Furthermore, King Hamad bin Isa AL Khalifa and Russian President Vladimir Putin attended in Moscow the signing of agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries.

The first agreement between the government of Bahrain and the government of Russia was about the establishment of a joint governmental committee for commercial, economic, scientific and technological cooperation.

The agreement was signed by Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Alexey Ulyukae, the Minister of Economic Development.

The second agreement between the government of Bahrain and the government of Russia was about military cooperation. It was signed by Lieutenant-General Yussef bin Ahmed Al Jalahma, the Minister of Defense Affairs, and Sergei Shoigu, the Minister of Defense.

A MoU between Bahrain’s Oil and Gas Holding Company and Russia’s Gazprom was signed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Minister of Oil, and Viktor Zubkov, the company board chairman.

A MoU between Bahrain’s Oil and Gas Holding Company and Russia’s Rosgeologia about a partnership in geophysical surveys for oil and gas was signed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Minister of Oil, and Roman Panov, the company chairman.

King Hamad and President Putin lauded the signing of the agreements and MoU’s that will contribute to the consolidation and development of the relations between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Qatar’s Minister of State for Defense Affairs Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah met Tuesday with Russia’s Minister of Defense Sergey Shoygu, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

They discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation in the military field between the State of Qatar and the Russian Federation.

Al Attiyah visit to Russia was to participate in the International Military-Technical Forum “Army 2016” which is taking place from September 6-11. They discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation in the military field between the State of Qatar and the Russian Federation.
