Within the framework of the interest of the General Command of the Egyptian Armed Forces in exchanging scientific expertise and training medical personnel according to the latest science in medical and research fields, the Military Medical Academy organized the Eighth Medical Conference on Psychiatry for the Armed Forces.
The Conference which lasted for two days, was held in cooperation with the General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment, the Egyptian Psychiatric Association, the National Council for Mental Health and the Addiction Treatment and Abuse Fund, with the participation of elite doctors, professors of Egyptian universities, and specialists in the field of psychiatry, both military and civilians.
The proceedings of the opening session of the Conference began with the speech of Major General Doctor Amin Fouad Shaker, Head of the Medical Military Academy during which he conveyed the greetings and appreciation of General Mohamed Zaki, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces the Minister of Defense and Military Production, and Lieutenant General Osama Askar, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces to the audience. He stressed the keenness of the General Command of the Armed Forces to continuously develop and modernize the medical and research system to provide the highest levels of health care to the citizens, the Egyptian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The Conference dealt with many scientific sessions, workshops, and discussions of a number of research papers and lectures, which include issues of addiction and how to deal with, the mental illnesses resulting from, psychological pressures and accidents of all levels, and the relationship of psychiatry with other medical specialties and types of treatment for mental illnesses.
The Conference also aims to exchange scientific and practical experiences and discuss the latest international researches, and come up with future recommendations that can be implemented to keep pace with the successive medical development in the field of Psychiatry.
