Chairman of the Jordanian Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Yousef Huneiti on Tuesday received German Chief of the Defense Staff, General Carsten Breuer and the accompanying delegation.

Huneiti and Carsten discussed prospects of military cooperation between the two armies, and the latest regional and international developments as well as ways to serve the interests of the armed forces in the two friendly countries.

The meeting was attended by Germany’s Ambassador to Jordan, Bernhard Kampmann, senior army officers and German Military Attaché in Amman, Petra news agency reported.

In another development, a Royal Jordanian Air Force (RJAF) emergency evacuation aircraft, which was sent to Sudan, according to royal directives, to evacuate Jordanians, their families, and a number of nationals of friendly and brotherly countries, arrived at the Marka military airport, eastern Amman, on Tuesday evening.

The aircraft carried 90 Jordanian citizens and a number of nationals of sister countries.

The aircraft was received by Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, who said that the the King’s directives stressed the need to dedicate all capabilities to evacuate Jordanian citizens from Sudan.

“This operation is the largest evacuation operation that we carried out,” Safadi explained.

“With the arrival of this aircraft, we have completed the largest part of the evacuation of Jordanian citizens, and evacuated the largest part of our citizens who contacted with us and we reached out to them,” Safadi added.

He pointed out that another aircraft will arrive later Wednesday carrying a number of Jordanian and non-Jordanian citizens.

Safadi underlined that the Jordanian embassy in Sudan will remain open until the evacuation of another Jordanian, noting that many countries have made Jordan a base for the evacuation of their nationals from Sudan.

He expressed his hope that the Sudanese parties would reach a solution that would end this crisis and protect the brothers in Sudan from the consequences of further fighting.

The General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) - the Arab Army had prepared an evacuation plan in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, the Ministry of Interior, the General Intelligence Department and the National Center for Security and Crisis Management, and it was implemented through the Joint National Crisis Cell that was formed since the beginning of the crisis in Sudan.
