Tiger 14, a Jordanian-Omani military drill wrapped up on Tuesday as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between the two countries’ armed forces and train in joint planning to implement various tasks to address any potential security threats.
The drill, which took place at the King Abdullah II Special Operations Training Center in Jordan, included training on storming a building, shooting down snipers, descending by helicopter, shooting in an open field and using police dogs, Petra news agency reported.
In another development, His Majesty King Abdullah received Tuesday a delegation from the British Royal College of Defence Studies currently visiting Jordan. The delegation includes Officers from several countries, according to a royal court statement.
The meeting, held at Al Husseiniya Palace, covered various regional and international issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause, in addition to efforts to reach political solutions to regional crises, and counter terrorism within a holistic approach.
Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Yousef Huneiti attended.
For his part, Major General Yousef Huneiti separately received on Tuesday NATO’s Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges David van Weel.
During the meeting, Huneiti and van Weel discussed prospects of cooperation and coordination in various military, operational, training and logistical fields to serve the two sides’ armed forces.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mohammed Nasser Al Za’abi, Secretary General at the Omani Ministry of Defence received in his office at Al Murtafaa Garrison Tuesday a delegation from the French Senate.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations and exchanged views on matters of common concern, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.
The meeting was attended by Senior Officers of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) and Ambassador of the French Republic to the Sultanate of Oman.
Meanwhile, Vice Admiral Abdullah Khamis Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) received in his office at Al Murtafaa Garrison Tuesday Rear Admiral Emmanuel Slaars, Commander of the French Forces in the Indian Ocean.
The two sides reviewed areas of cooperation and exchanged views on matters of mutual interest.
The meeting was attended by several Senior SAF officers and the Military Attaché of the French Republic’s Embassy at Muscat
