Heads of state, world leaders and eminent people around the world are expected to pay their last respects to the late Saudi Crown Prince Sultan, Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense and Aviation.
His funeral is expected to take place at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh following Asr prayer today.
Heads of state from the GCC countries will also pay their last respects to the Prince in the capital.
Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari will attend the funeral of the late Prince, as well as a high level delegation from Bangladesh comprising Speaker of the Bangladesh Parliament Abdul Hameed and Senior Minister Musharaff Hossain.
Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa will be sending a special team of high officials to pay their last respects to Prince Sultan on his behalf.
The six-member delegation from Sri Lanka will include former Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayake, Senior Minister Abdul Hameed Mohammed Fowzie, Justice Minister Rauf Hakeem, Western Province Governor Alavi Mowlana, Deputy Minister of Environment Faiszer Mustapha and Additional Secretary at the External Affairs Ministry Ibrahim Sahib Ansar.
Malaysia will be sending a delegation to participate in the funeral. The names of the delegates were yet to be announced.
British Diplomat Steven Dick said arrangements are being made by his government to send a delegation from the United Kingdom to attend the funeral.
US Embassy Press Attaché Mofid Deak said that a special delegation would definitely be arriving in the Kingdom in time for the funeral.
