HRH Prince Naif, Crown Prince, Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior of Saudi Arabia, has highlighted the importance of the Gulf Union to confront challenges and foreign threats.

He made these remarks as he chaired the consultative meeting of the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Interior Ministers in the Saudi Capital Riyadh last Wednesday.

The Crown Prince asserted that aggression on any member country would be considered as an attack on all GCC states.

He expressed solidarity with the UAE and Bahrain in confronting challenges and threats.

Crown Prince Naif also referred to the call made by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah during the 32nd Riyadh GCC Summit in December 2011 to Gulf leaders to move from a stage of cooperation to a stage of union in a single entity.

This shows the keenness to maintain the security, safety and stability of our countries and people at any cost, he pointed out.

“I am emphasizing the Kingdom’s position that it denounces the unacceptable practice of Iran, which deprived UAE of its legitimate rights over three of its islands,” Crown Prince Naif added.

“Saudi Arabia and other GCC states would stand united in supporting the UAE and Bahrain in safeguarding their sovereignty and stability. We consider security of these states as the security of the entire GCC states,” said the Crown Prince.

While stressing that internal security is the pivotal basis in maintaining stability and achieving prosperity in the Gulf, Crown Prince Naif said the GCC states will jointly confront the challenges and threats faced by them.

The security situation in the Middle East region and their implications for the security of GCC states topped the agenda of the meeting.

The Interior Ministers discussed how to ensure full-proof security and stability and boost joint security plans.
