Saudi Arabia has requested the fulfillment of a support contract worth an estimated $1.2 billion, according to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).

DSCA notified Congress on August 22 of the potential deal, which covers support and services for aircraft owned by the Royal Saudi Air Force.

The possible sale would cover “aircraft, engines and weapons, to include contractor technical services, logistics support, maintenance support, spares, equipment repair, expendables, support and test equipment, communication support, precision measuring equipment, personnel training and training equipment, technical support, exercises, deployments and other related elements of program support services, U.S. Government and contractor technical and logistics support services, and other related elements of logistical and program support,” according to DSCA.

A Department of Defense (DoD) said the deal will primarily cover support for Saudi Arabia’s fleet of Boeing designed F-15s. He added that the deal does not include any new contracts; rather, it is a follow-on order for sustainment similar to one DSCA announced August 6 of 2012.

The deal is expected to cover a two- to three-year period.
