Lt. General Hamad Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi, Chief-of-Staff of the UAE Armed Forces, attended Saturday the final day of the 10th Jazeera (Peninsula) Shield joint military exercise, which was held at Samit Track in Jubail, in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.
Also present were Chiefs-of-Staff of the GCC countries, military attachés and senior officials, Emirates News Agency WAM reported.
The drill witnessed the participation of the Saudi Armed Forces, in addition to security sectors, as well as land, air and naval forces from the GCC countries.
Commenting on the drill, as it concluded the fourth and last stage of the exercises, the Spokesman of the Joint Drill, Brigadier General Abdullah Hussein Al-Sibaiei, pointed out that the last stage had been conducted with live ammunition, as it is significantly and greatly sophisticated, falling in line with the wider strategic and comprehensive vision of defending the kingdom and keeping in mind regional as well as world security and stability.
For his part, Bahrain Defense Force (BDF) Chief-of-Staff Lieutenant-General Dheyab bin Saqr Al-Nuami attended the conclusion of the 10th Peninsula Shield joint military drill.
BDF air, navy and infantry fighting units took part, alongside other GCC armed forces, in the final phase of the military drill, which started on the 20th of February, 2019, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.
The stages of the live-ammunition exercise included chemical strikes, missile air attacks, naval vessel operations, coastal defense, storming and disinfection of villages by Special Forces, air support operations for surface forces and the conduct of military operations. The drill follows the GCC leaders’ directives and the decisions of the GCC defense council to bolster military cooperation, enhance harmony between GCC armies and exchange expertise.
Lt-General Al-Nuami commended the good results achieved by 10th Peninsula Shield joint military drill, hailing the participation of the Bahraini units and their dedicated cooperation alongside other GCC armed forces. Lt-General Al-Nuami returned today after attended the final ceremony, accompanied by senior BDF Officers.
