The Royal Army of Oman (RAO) and the United States Army’s infantry units began a joint drill codenamed “Valley of Fire 2021”.

During the 11-day exercise, the RAO is represented by 11th Infantry Brigade, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.

The exercise is being conducted with the participation of the Sultan of Oman’s Parachutes, the Sultan of Oman’s Armored Division, the Sultan of Oman’s Artillery, the Royal Air Force of Oman and the Sultan Air Force (SAF) Signals and Engineering divisions.

The joint drill kicked off at Thamrait Air Base in Dhofar Governorate amid precautions to avoid the spread of Covid-19. Simulation and role-playing tasks of the exercise are aimed to provide training in accordance with a macro plan set by the RAO to achieve the desired national objectives.

Such plans seek to maintain preparedness and high combat ability. They come within the context of annual training programs carried out in cooperation with friendly countries to exchange expertise in military fields.
