Royal Army of Oman Marks Sultan’s Armed Forces Day

The Royal Army of Oman (RAO) marked Sunday the Sultan’s Armed Forces Day, which falls on 11 December every year. The event was held under the patronage of Sayyid Saud Hilal Al Busaidi, Governor of Muscat.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the military salute was given to the chief guest and the Royal Anthem was played. Various military and musical shows were staged during the ceremony, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.

Moreover, the chief guest pinned long service and good conduct medals on several RAO personnel in appreciation of their sincere efforts in serving the country and their dedication in performing the national duty.

The ceremony was attended by Commanders of the Sultan’s Armed Forces and other military and security units. It was also attended by several high-ranking officers and officials from government department, sheikhs and dignitaries of the Governorate of Muscat, retired officers and RAO personnel.

Meanwhile, another ceremony was held in Muscat Sunday to mark the issuance of postage stamps by the Ministry of Defense and the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) in cooperation with Oman Post.

The ceremony began with a visual presentation on Oman Post, highlighting Oman Post’s national role and the evolution of postage stamps in Oman. This was followed by a display on the historical stages of establishment and development of postage stamps at the Ministry of Defense and the SAF and the symbolic value that the stamps signify.

On behalf of the Ministry of Defense, the postage stamps issue was signed by Dr. Mohammad Nasser Al Za’abi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense, and Vice Admiral Abdullah Khamis Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces, and Nasser Ahmed Al Sharji, CEO of Oman Post and Asyad Express.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Ali Amer Al Shidhani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, senior officers of the SAF and officials from Oman Post.
