13.06.2011 Qatar
Several leading experts from the region will take part in the inaugural 2-day Public Safety and Security Summit to be held in Qatar on 22-23 June.
The event is timely as Qatar prepares to take centre-stage as the host nation of the 2022 FIFA World Cup and has a top priority in ensuring that public spaces can accommodate the huge influx of visitors expected for the world’s greatest football tournament.
The summit will explore the rising demand for safety and security services and solutions in Doha. Qatar is more than aware of the significant work and investment required in preparing for such an event, organizers, naseba, said.
A new rail network is planned, 12 stadiums are to be built or renovated, and the number of hotels is set to increase from 100 to almost 250.
"The summit gathers key regional industry decision makers looking to acquire the latest technology and learn from best global practices - ensuring safer and secure environment for the public and critical assets," remarked Fabien Faure, naseba Managing Director.
"Qatar will expand drastically in the coming years, and with that expansion comes the responsibility to guarantee a safe living," he added.
Key speakers at the summit include Stephen Cooper OBE, Head of Security for the Olympic Delivery Authority, and Chris Eaton, Head of Security, FIFA.
Many industry-leading companies including G4S, GHD and Selex Sistemi Integrati are attending, and have an opportunity to showcase their latest innovative solutions.
