Qatar’s Chief-of-Staff Meets Algerian Counterpart

The Chief-of-Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Major General (Pilot) Ghanem bin Shaheen Al Ghanem conferred with Lieutenant General Ahmed Gaid Salah, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Chief-of-Staff of People’s National Army in Algeria.

During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing them, especially in military fields, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

Major General Ghanem bin Shaheen Al Ghanem started Sunday an official visit to Algeria, said the Algerian National Defense Ministry in a communiqué.

“At the invitation of Lieutenant General Ahmed Gaid Salah, the Deputy Minister of the National Defense, Chief-of-Staff of the People’s National Army, the Chief-of- Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Major General Ghanem bin Shaheen Al Ghanem started an official visit to Algeria as from today 9 October 2016,” said the source.

This official visit, which is part of “the strengthening of the fraternity and cooperation relations between the two countries’ Armed Forces, will be an opportunity to discuss on areas of mutually beneficial interests and examine ways to further strengthen them,” concluded the source. Earlier this month, Major General (Pilot) Ghanem bin Shaheen Al Ghanem met in Doha with the Head of International Relations at the French Ministry of Defense.

During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations between Qatar and France, and ways to develop them in the areas of defense. (QNA)

He also met with Tomasz Szatkowski, the Undersecretary of State and the Deputy Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Poland, and his accompanying delegation.

Talks during the meeting dealt with bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them in the defense areas, as well as the current security situation in the region.
