The Military Police Forces of Qatar celebrated the graduation of a number of foundation courses, in the presence of Commander of the Military Police Forces Major-General Rashid bin Mohammed Al Hajri.
During the ceremony, the graduates presented a number of segments and hypothetical scenarios for what they trained on during the course period.
The courses included: Joint Foundational VIP Security & Protection Course, Joint Counter-Terrorism Course, Military Movements Course, and Joint VIP Security & Protection Trainers Course.
The ceremony was attended by a number of Qatar Armed Forces (QAF) Officers, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.
According to Major Faesal Almannai, Canadian Forces College, the state of the Qatari Military Police Force was approximately 200 personnel in 2019.
The Qatar Military Police Force has a capability to provide protection of bases, VIP protection and protection of military forces in Qatar (convoy protection). The current status of Qatar’s Military Police cannot fulfill the traditional role of military policing that include investigations, detainee handling and general policing on military camps, Major Faesal Almannai noted.
As described in the Qatar National Vision 2030, the state will ‘modernize’, and ‘contribute towards international peace and security’ as a means to better Qatar Military Police.
With a larger more modernized Military Police Force, Qatar can contribute to domestic security to reduce any security concerns when hosting large scale world events, such as the World Cup 2022
