The position of the Doha 2nd International Maritime Defense Exhibition and Conference 2010 (DIMDEX 2010) as the region’s premier maritime defense exhibition has been underlined by the significant number of exhibitor confirmations received from major global defense manufacturers eager to participate at DIMDEX 2010 taking place at Doha Exhibition Center from 29 to 31 March 2010.

The high level DIMDEX delegation - led by Lt. Colonel Ahmed Abdullah Haroon, Captain (Sea) Mohammed Desmal Al-Kuwari, and DIMDEX 2010 Exhibition Director Mohamad Nabhani, attracted attention from the 1,262 exhibitors from 40 countries taking part in Defense Systems & Equipment International (DSEi) in London.

In particular the Turkish Ministry of Defense will be featured in a special section displaying the latest Turkish military technology. Brazil requested around 150 sq m, and French manufacturers like DCNS, Navfco, Zodiac, and Raidco Marine confirmed their space in the French National Pavilion. In addition, the DIMDEX 2010 delegation discussed the possibility of assigning Pakistan’s Defense Export Promotion Organization (DEPO) to be in charge of arranging the participation of all Pakistani manufacturers, suppliers and maritime defense companies attending DIMDEX 2010.

“Our participation at DSEi in the United Kingdom was a complete success. It was clear from our meetings with various naval forces and global manufacturers that Qatar is now considered a major player in the maritime defense sector," said Lt. Colonel Haroon.

Confirming Lt. Haroon’s opinion was the impressive list of naval defense manufacturers all keen to meet the DIMDEX 2010 delegation: BAE Systems (U.K.), General Dynamics (Canada), Navantia (Spain), EADS (European), MBDA (European), MKU (India/UK), Northrop Grumman (USA), EID (Portugal), Wartsila (Denmark), Crypto AG (Switzerland), Curtiss Wright (INDAL) (Canada), System Sunlight (Greece), Flir (USA/UK), FMV (Sweden), Denel (South Africa), Ten Cate (Denmark), Kongsberg (Norway), Nexter (France), Luciad (Belgium), KADDB (Jordan),  Qatar’s Gulf Helicopters and others.

To ensure DIMDEX 2010 attracts an international audience of key military, government, and industry decision makers, DIMDEX 2010 Chairman and Commander of the Qatar Emir Naval Forces, Staff Brigadier (Sea) Mohammed Bin Nasser Al-Mohannadi, has issued 90 Official VIP Delegation invitations including Naval and Coast Guard Commanders, Senior Government Officials, Naval Strategists and Analysts.
