Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB), manufacturer of the Baynunah,is the latest company to contract to Naval Defence Exhibition (NAVDEX). ADSB is the only military shipbuilder in the Middle East region, currently having 54 vessels on order for local and foreign customers.
NAVDEX, the Middle East’s new Naval Defence and Coastal Security Exhibition, will run alongside and be co-located with IDEX from 20-24 February 2011 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center-Marina.

Focusing on naval defence, coastal, and maritime security, NAVDEX offers manufacturers and suppliers the opportunity to showcase the latest equipment and technology and reach audiences from countries within the GCC, Middle East, North Africa, and Asian Subcontinent.

NAVDEX is supported by the UAE Navy and will become the main sourcing platform for the UAE Navy, Critical National Infrastructure Authority (CNIA) as well as Naval Forces and offshore companies from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Despite the recession, naval spending in the MENA region has seen significant growth and the trend is set to continue in the next 20 years. Forecasts show that the naval market in the MENA region will be worth US$31.15bn by 2030. Over the next 10 years, more than 350 vessels will be purchased by 18 countries of the MENA region, representing approximately US$17bn in market size and value.
