MBDA is presenting its comprehensive range of ground and naval based air defense systems, including its ASTER family of missiles, which are featured in both ground and naval based air defense systems at the IDEX-NAVDEX Exhibition (Abu Dhabi, 17-21 February 2013).
ASTER represents one of the best in MBDA’s international cooperative program management skills and its technical ability. In service with several armed forces, ASTER has been proven against a range of ballistic missile representative targets, as well as against sea skimming supersonic targets, in both its ground based and naval based and has in so far established a capability which remains unmatched worldwide.
In addition to the ASTER family of missiles, MBDA will also showcase a number of systems including the VL MICA, a 360° air-defense system designed to engage multiple targets. This system will be featured along with MBDA's short-range GBAD missile, MISTRAL. The missile has a 6-km range and is designed for surface-to-air defense systems, and is capable of intercepting a wide variety of aerial targets with an 96% success rate in over 4,700 live firings, including maneuvering targets, fixed-wing aircraft, nap-of-the-earth helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles and cruise missiles.
“IDEX-NAVDEX are two of the biggest defense exhibitions, and make the perfect opportunity for us to meet and engage with our partners in the region. This year, we are showing a number of defense solutions that showcase MBDA's innovation and commitment to the best in-class defense systems. The GCC is a very important partner to us, so we're looking forward to the event,” commented Florent Duleux, MBDA’s Export Vice President for the Middle East.
Additionally, MBDA will be showcasing their SPADA 2000 ground based missile system, the road clearance system SOUVIM 2, which is now used by the French Army in Afghanistan, the PARS 3 LR system, which is an important battlefield engagement high-precision fire-and-forget solution, MILAN ER, a new generation infantry weapon for tactical fire support and precision close combat operations.
Other systems on display include the ERYX infantry weapon for short-range combat, the highly acclaimed DUAL MODE BRIMSTONE (DMB) which was recently deployed in Libya, the world's best known anti-ship missile EXOCET MM40 Block3 which is in service with several navies , and MBDA's CWSP (Combat Warfare System Package) operating self-defense SIMBAD-RC system and MARTE MK2N anti-ship system for patrol boats and logistic vessels.
MBDA is also displaying air launched weapons for latest generations combat aircrafts, including the latest BVRAAM (Beyond Visual Range Air to Air Missile) METEOR.
